Technological Process of CNC Prototype Machining
Step1 Receive the prototype 3D drawing from the customer
The customer needs to provide us the 3D drawing with common formats. If there is
an effect picture in the process explanation file with JPG or Office format, it will be
better. And if you want to make the structural prototype, you’d better to provide us
BOM so that we can quickly identify the parts for fear of missing parts.
Step 2 Check drawings
Drawings sent by customers should be examined to check whether there is any
interference , broken surfaces, incomplete parts in the 3D drawing. The process
description will be checked carefully to confirm the implementation of the process.
BOM will be checked to confirm whether the number is clear and whether there
is a loss in parts; The scale of drawing will be check up on.
Step 3 CNC programming
CNC milling ruote will be programmed according to processing method. Raw material,
tools need to be prepared. And the working speed should be set up.
Step 4 Material preparation
According to the process description and BOM supplied by the customer, material
should be chosen and prepared; According to the size of the material marked by
programming engineer ,the material will be cut.
Step 5 CNC machining.
Programming guides CNC machining center to mill; According to the machineshop
list, workers can choose the corresponding cutters to engrave and mill.
Step 6 First Check
The finished parts can be returned to the programmer who ensures the quantity is
right and accurate. Each product can be measured with a caliper to ensure that
customer’s drawing is within the range of tolerance. And the programmer also check
whether the material of parts is consistent with the BOM provided by the customer.
Step 7 Appearance treatment
1. Grinding and polishing, there are tool marks in the prototype surface processed
by CNC machining , so the appearance of prototype needs to be manual polished.
And this process intuitively reflects that the quality of prototype is excellent or bad.
According to the type of products and materials,we select different characteristics
of the sandpaper and polishing wax and then carefully check the 3D picture file,
analyzing the focus of the product appearance, as accurately as possible to embody
the angles, lines and gaps of the various parts and so on; Those parts which need
to electroplated their surface must be manual polished in order to present the mirror
effect after electroplated. 2.Spray paints, electroplate, anodizing. The biggest
advantage of CNC prototype is that its surface effect can closer to the final effect
of mass production.3. silk screen, laser carving.
Step 8 Prototype assembly
Whatever it is an appearance of prototype or structural prototype,it needs to be
assembled .Also it needs to check whether the product accessories are complete or
not.Besides,we carefully compare the 3D drawings and technical instructions provided
by customers and then assemble it. We especially pay more attention to emphasize
ap between the relations of assembly and component fit.
Step 9 Final inspection
All prototypes need to be inspected their qualities before shipment,of course,
it doesn’t say that the quality inspection is the last step for prototypes. And quality
of prototypes is mainly controlled in every process.Once the prototype is scrapped ,
it needs to be remade so that the delivery date will be seriously delayed .Therefore,
the prototype should be qualified with 100 percent and zero-scrap,which can ensure
that the products can be delivered on time and satisfy the client.
Step 10 Packaging
Because of the different specifications of prototypes,it is hard for every prototype
to achieve the most”formfitting” packaging .Therefore, products only can be easily
packaged in the form of “male mold” ,but every piece should be shipped under
principle of confidentiality and security.
