There are many machining methods in the
rapid prototyping for the inner hole, commonly used are drilling, reaming, reaming, mirror hole, hole grinding, broaching, grinding hole, the hole grinding, rolling hole etc.
Here I will introduce two common methods for drilling and reaming as follows.
Due to the length of the twist drill is relatively long, the diameter of the drilling core with small size and poor rigidity and it is effected by the transverse edge, so the drilling has the following technical characteristics.

the bit is easy to incline shake

the aperture is easy to enlarge

the surface quality of the hole is relatively poor

the axial force is large in the process of drilling
Compared to the twist drill, the structure of the reamer drill has the following characteristics.

good rigidity: due to the depth of the reaming is small, less cutting, the groove of the reamer drill is shallow and narrow, the diameter of the core drilling is relatively large, thus increasing the rigidity of the drill working part.

good orientation: the reamer has 3-4 cutters and the numbers of the tool edges has increased , thus strengthen the function of the guidance.

chip with better conditions: reamer without transverse edge in cutting, cutting easily, can be used to feed , much higher productivity, at the same time, the chip is smooth, so it is not easy to scratch the machined surface.
Therefore, compared to the drilling, the reaming has high precision, the roughness of the surface is low and the axis error can be corrected in a certain extent. The suitable machine of the reaming is similar to the drilling.
