The design of the parts should be reasonable, choosing the structure scheme as best as possible, the designer must take the technical requirements and structure into consideration, which must meet the process and feasibility of the prototype.

The selection of the prototype material should not only meet the customers’ requirements on products equality, but also need to consider the costs of the material and the strength of the set period, of course, we should according to the types of the prototype , working mode, processing speed and the main failure forms ,etc. to choose the material. For example, the main failure form of the blanking die is the blade wear, so we should choose the material with high hardness on surface and good abrasion resistance. While the stamping die mainly subjected to the cyclic loading, easy to cause the fatigue crack on the surface, leading to the surface spalling, so we should choose the material with good tenacity. In addition, the drawing die should choose the material with low coefficient.
