Surface Treatment for CNC Processing

At present, surface treatment for CNC processing in China mainly adopt manual polishing, but for some complex cavity and slit required precision machining, the traditional processing methods are unable to compete, so it is necessary to adopt other measures, such as electrochemical or electrochemical mechanical finishing technology.
Surface treatment for CNC processing can mainly be divided into two parts: the traditional processing technology and non-traditional processing technology. The traditional machining technology is mainly adopt manual polishing and precision processing by machine which is developing these years. While the non-traditional processing technology mainly include chemical polishing, electrochemical polishing, electrolytic polishing, electrochemical mechanical finishing machining, ultrasonic machining, magnetorheological  polishing, laser polishing technology and EDM polishing etc.
  1. Manual Polishing: the method does not need any special equipment, and it has strong adaptability. It mainly depend on the experience and technical level of operator, whose efficiency is very low (about 1/3 of the model cycle), labor intensity is high and quality is not stable which restricted our prototype processing development to a higher level. But for the current social and economic technology development, this processing method cannot completely eliminate at present.
  2. Digital Polishing Machine for Prototype: The polishing tool use digital control, digital display and controlling processing parameters. Equipped with a set of grinding and abrasive, semi automatic polishing which has small volume, convenient operation, stable quality, good repeatability advantages. Applied range: a. material: all kinds of scaffold materials, including steel, forged steel, aluminum alloy and zinc alloy. b. surface size: 100 x 100 (MM model) 1500 * 3000 (mm).
  3. Ultrasonic Polishing Machine for Prototype: The polishing tool use the theory of high-frequency electric spark pulse power and rapid ultrasonic vibration abrasive to polish. It can complete the general polishing tools (grinder flexible shaft) which is difficult to polish some winding part, such as narrow groove, tortuous, edge and angle etc. After polishing, it does not collapse edge and affect the model accuracy. By adopt this tool to polish, it can quickly shape and polish on the rough surface, and it is not affected by the shape of the parts and the hardness of the material. It even has no requirements on the original surface roughness and its efficiency is relatively high.
  4. High Speed Milling technology for prototype semi-finishing and finishing: The high speed milling to process prototype surface can save  25% to 60% processing time than the EDM processing. The surface quality is good by high speed milling, which can avoid the surface micro pattern . The high speed milling can process 45 ~ 60HRC hard surface and the fine milling surface roughness can up to Ra=0.63mm. It can reduce the time by manual polishing, save manufacturing obviates and shorten patternmaking cycle significantly.
  5. Electrochemistry and electrochemical mechanical finishing: electrochemical compound finishing technology mainly depend on the principle of electrochemical anodic dissolution of metal part to process and remove the ions. Because it is a non-contact processing, no deformation layer, metamorphic layer and the residual stress and the tool free wear, so it can be long-term application. It can not produce flash and burr. Using electrochemical machining can improve more than 5 times in life than general ultra precision machining.
