There is many factors decided prototype cost, including raw materials, the requirements to
 the prototype,as well as if it is the most economical raw materials to meet this requirements.
The list can help answer these questions, in many prototype application conditions, there is 
more than one alternative materials can meet the final application requirements of the prototype.
 The difference is the price per pound, density, or each prototype quality, plus the problem of the 
molding cycle . Some resin is faster in molding and cycle than the other resins, considering its 
physical properties are higher than other resins, therefore can make the section thinner in the 
design. So the selection of the raw materials is the main consideration. Compared the use of 
metal currently, the plastic cost per cubic inch is very low. Plastic can not completely  replace it 
in the field of metal , but the latest plastic alloy shorten this gap greatly in many traditional metal 
prototype applications market.
They designers should responsible for the final cost of the prototype,including prototype design 
and manufacture two aspects.If a prototype without the correction design of the plastic function,
 raw material and final application performance ,this design is a failure. Therefore, to meet these
 needs, while ensuring the prototype can be produced on the premise of meeting cost targets,
are the designers' responsibility .The designers cannot sacrifice the quality of the prototype due
 to price reasons. In order to meet the final application performance characteristics and expected
 cost targets, there are many plastic materials for selection.The plastic design account for 20%
 of the final prototype cost.It mainly depends on the complexity of the prototype, the design time, 
the required information of research prototype.
