How to choose the prototype model design type?

At present, the mature technology materials is wax powder and plastic powder.Use metal 
powder or ceramic powder to adhesive or sintering process is still in experimental research
 stage.
SLS:
The method SLS adopt CO2 laser to make energy, at present, most of the molding materials 
are all kinds powder material.Evenly spread a very thin layer (100 mu to 200 mu) powder on
 the workbench,the laser beam was selectively sintered according the parts hierarchical 
contour under the control of the computer , after completion of a layer ,then to sintering next 
layer ,after finish sintering,remove all excess powder, and then to polish ,stoving, treatment,
so as to obtain the parts.
FDM:
The key of FDM process is to keep half flowing molding material just above the melting 
point (usually control at about one centigrade higher than melting point.controlled by CAD
 hierarchical data,the half flowing fuse material is squeezed out from the shower nozzle
 (the wire diameter is 1.5 mm or more) .Then solidification and forming contour in the 
shape of a thin layer, the thickness of each layer is in the range of 0.025 ~ 0.762 mm, 
a layer after a layer , form to the whole part finally.
