The anodization related knowledge of aluminium alloy prototype
Why aluminium alloy prototype need to be anodized?
Generally, when aluminium alloy prototype contact with air, its surface will have anodized
reaction and become alumina on surface. It is very ugly when it is anodized naturally.
So they need to be anodized artificially. When aluminium alloy prototype is anodized artificially,
it have a kind of stable substance alumina on its surface, which cannot anodized with air again.
So the aluminium alloy prototype can keep this color permanently. Therefore, the purpose of
anodization of aluminium alloy prototype is preventing surface being corroded and improving
the aesthetics of prototype.
Which type of prototype can be anodized?
Usually, stainless steel and copper can’t be anodized. Only aluminium alloy can be anodized.
But different aluminium material, their effect of anodization is different, such as the anodized
effect of aluminium 7075 is not very good because it contain copper. Aluminium alloy with 5
and 6 can be anodized and the anodized effect of aluminum alloy 6061-T6 is the best.
Which points shoulbe be noted when aluminium alloy anodized.
1. Before anodized, the prototype should be sand blast. If not, it will influence the aesthetics
of aluminium alloy prototype. As well, if the aluminium alloy prototyope being anodized after
high polishing, it will have gloss effect on the surface.
2. If you want to make the aluminium alloy prototype with natural color, you just need to
polish and then sand blast.
3. Generally, the color of aluminium alloy prototype is one color. If you need double color
anodized, it will need several anodized and the cost will be more expensive.
4. Aluminium alloy prototype cannot be anodized into white color.
