During the process of the product development,after we finish designing the drawing,the most 
eager to do is to know the appearance of the sample which designed by ourselves,if it is fit for 
our idea,if the structure is reasonable.The prototype model design manufacturing is emerged
 by this demand.
Generally speaking,the prototype is the sample according the product appearance drawing or 
structure drawing to make one or several pieces,to inspect the appearance or the structural 
rationality before opening the mould. 
Due to various limitations, early prototype mainly manifested in the most of the work was done
 by hand,caused a long duration,so that hard to meet the measurement requirement of the 
appearance and structure drawing strictly,this makes the inspect appearance function or 
structural rationality function sell at a discount greatly.With the progress of science and 
technology, the fast development of CAD and CAM technology provide better technical support 
of the prototype manufacturing, make the prototype to be accurately.
On the other hand,along with the social competition is becoming increasingly intense, the speed
 of product development is increasingly becoming the main contradiction of the competition , and
 prototype manufacturing just can improve the speed of product development effectively.It is in 
this case, the prototype manufacturing emerged as a relatively independent industry and flourished.
