Rapid prototyping stripping is to separate the waste from the molding process, supporting
structure and workpiece. Although, there are no waste of SLA, FDM and TDP forming, but the
support structure must strip after molding ; LoM prototyping no need special supporting
structure, but there are grid waste, also must be stripped after molding. Stripping is a
meticulous work, in some cases is also very time consuming. There are three kinds of
stripping methods:
1. Manual stripping
Operators use hand and some simple tools to separate the waste, supporting structure
and workpiece . This is one of the most common stripping method. For LoM molding
products, generally use this method to separate the grid waste and workpiece.
2.Chemical stripping
When a chemical solution can dissolve support structure without damage parts,
prototype model can use this chemical solution to separate the supporting structure
and workpiece. For example, for M061 dish machine , can use solution to dissolve
wax ,to separate the workpiece(thermoplastics), support structure(wax),and basal(wax).
The stripping efficiency of this method is high, the workpiece surface is clean.
3. The heating stripping
When the support structure is was,and the molding material is hinge wax with high
melting point, gas will melt support structure and separate with the workpiece. The
stripping efficiency of this method is high,can use hot water or proper temperature
steaming hot ,and the surface clean.
