Foundry also be called casting.Foundry is pour the molten metal into the mould cavity, after
cooling and solidification to get the products. In the process of automobile manufacture,
there are a lot of parts is made of cast iron blank which accounts for about 10% of whole
vehicle weight , such as cylinder block, transmission box, steering gear housing, rear axle
shell, brake drum, all kinds of stents, etc. Usually use the sand mold to make the cast iron.
The raw material is given priority to the sand, and mixed with binder, water, etc. The sand
material must have a certain bond strength, in order to be shaped as required,and can
resist high temperature molten iron scouring and won't collapse. To shape mold cavity
which consistent with the casting shape, must use wood to make the model,called wooden
model.The volume of the hot molten iron will be smaller after cooling , therefore, need to
enlarge the model size according the shrinkage rate,and thicken corresponding on the
surface need to be machining on the basis of the original size.The hollow casting should
be made to the sand core and the corresponding wooden model(core box) With wooden,
can double cavity mould.When manufacturing the sand mold, need to consider how to
separate the up and down sand box to take out the wooden model,and where to infuse the
iron water,how to fill the cavity to get high quality castings.After finish the sand model,can
casting,pour the iron water into the sand cavity. When pouring, hot metal temperature
between 1250-1250 degrees, the temperature will be higher when melting. And through
pass up, repair, and grinding process, will be able to become a product.
